We are excited to offer dance tryouts and the opportunity to join our dance competition teams at Art in Motion School of Dance! Our team of dance professionals are dedicated to sharing the art of dance through instruction, performance, and competition dance for children ages 4 and older. AIM is the competitive dance school of choice for families and their dancers because of AIM’s passion, values of positive self image, discipline, confidence, teamwork, child-appropriate costuming & choreography and unwavering focus on the dancers.
Our dance studio offers several team & dance class options from beginner to advanced to allow for dancers to grow at their own pace. Our Team truly values each of our dancers and families and we want nothing more for everyone involved to have fun and make memories they will forever hold onto. Regional Teams
Touring Teams
Solo / Duet / Trio
In addition to your dancer's choreography class(es), dancers are required to take a 60 minute ballet class each week. This helps your dancer grow their technique for their choreography classes. Here at AIM, we believe that Ballet is the foundation for all genres of dance.
Our Company Teams consist of up to six possible competition dance teams in the genres of Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre. These 30 minute classes serve as the "Choreography Class", in which dancers will learn their competitive routines.
Dancers and families select how many dances they would like to participate in based on financial and scheduling purposes.

Dancers also have the opportunity to add on some additional classes throughout the season to strengthen areas of technique such as Acrobatic Classes, Jumps & Turns Classes, Flexibility & Conditioning Classes, Tap Classes and Hip-Hop Classes.
*Touring Teams are required to take a variety of these additional classes.
We have mandatory teams camps during the month of June. These camps will be Monday through Thursday at designated times.
Regional Company teams will *usually* be no more than two nights a week for their Choreography Classes and Ballet Classes. If technique classes are added on, that may be on additional day(s).
We do our best to accommodate dancers who only have (1) Choreography Class
Art in Motion Company Dancers will have opportunity to Join our AIM Booster Club to participate in fundraisers throughout the year to offset their competition & travel expenses.
Our AIM Boosters raised over $20,000 in 2022-2023 (and still counting) for those who participated. Some examples of past fundraisers have been selling tickets for gift card boards, quarter auction, recital boutique, candy bouquets, cookie dough fall & spring florals and more!
Our competition dance season runs from July 3rd, 2023 to May (Recital) 2024
*Touring Teams will have additional rehearsals in June 2024, to prepare for Nationals.
In addition to the regional competitions, listed above, this team also competes at a National Level Competition along with other competitions and/or performance opportunities. This does require more time commitment for classes, as there are minimum class requirements.
This team also will required travel outside of the regional areas listed above. Touring teams are not available to first year competitive dancers.
We have three regional competition, for our Regional Teams. Two are local (Areas of Dayton and Cincinnati typically) and one is within a three hour drive (Columbus, Louisville or Indianapolis typically). Our competitions are in February, March and April.
In order to participate in a solo/duet/trio you must have competed for a minimum of 2 years with Art in Motion as a new dancer and must compete in a minimum of 2 group dances.
Requests to do a solo/duet/trio are at the discretion of the Studio Director, Company Director, and with opinions from coaches and staff.
Some dancers may not be ready to compete in a solo/duet/trio or an instructor's schedule will not allow the extra classes to be added on.

2023-2024 Season
1.) Fill out the "Audition Registration" Form & pay the $15 Audition Fee
2.) Wear form fitted athletic clothing
3.) Secure longer hair in a ponytail with short hair pulled out of face
4.) Arrive to Auditions 30 minutes before the dancers scheduled time, to check in and pick up their audition number.
5.) Dancers do not need to prepare any choreography for auditions.
